Sun Requirements: Full Sun

Water Requirements: Low; extremely drought-tolerant once established

Height: 6–15 feet

Bloom Time: Spring through Early Summer

Description:
Mimosa texana, commonly called Texas Mimosa, is a densely branched native shrub or small tree armed with sharp, stout thorns along its stems. Finely divided foliage creates a soft texture that contrasts with its defensive structure. Fragrant pink to lavender puffball flowers attract pollinators. Well adapted to dry, rocky Texas soils and often used for wildlife habitat and natural barriers.

Planting Tips:

Plant in well-drained, rocky or limestone-based soils.

Allow space away from walkways or high-traffic areas due to heavy thorns.

Requires minimal irrigation once established.

Prune carefully using protective gloves and tools.
