Description:
Red Yucca (also known as Coral Yucca or Hummingbird Yucca) is a tough, evergreen perennial native to Texas, admired for its arching, grass-like foliage and tall, slender flower spikes bearing coral-red to salmon-pink tubular blooms. Despite the name, it's not a true yucca but shares similar drought tolerance and striking form. Its blooms attract hummingbirds, bees, and other pollinators, while the foliage adds year-round texture to xeriscapes and native plantings.
Planting Tips:
-
Prefers well-drained soil and full sun for best flowering.
-
Extremely drought-tolerant once established; do not overwater.
-
Remove spent flower stalks to tidy the plant and encourage rebloom.
-
Can be grown in containers or massed in dry landscapes.
Ideal Season for Planting in Texas: Fall or Early Spring
