Description:
Pigeonberry is a charming native groundcover that produces delicate pink to white flowers, followed by clusters of bright red berries that persist through much of the year. This low-growing perennial is an excellent choice for shaded gardens, woodland edges, or under trees, where it provides visual interest and attracts wildlife. Birds love the berries, while the flowers draw in pollinators like bees and butterflies. It is deer-resistant and thrives in well-drained soils.

Planting Tips:

Soil: Prefers well-drained, sandy, or loamy soil but adapts to various soil types.

Light: Best in partial to full shade; tolerates some dappled sun.

Watering: Water regularly until established; drought-tolerant once mature.

Maintenance: Can be trimmed back in winter to encourage fresh spring growth.

Ideal Season for Planting in Texas: Fall or Early Spring

Nativity to Texas: Yes

Additional Notes:
Pigeonberry is an excellent choice for naturalized gardens and shaded landscapes, providing year-round interest with its flowers and berries.
