Description:
Striking native shrub with bold spikes of brilliant red tubular flowers that attract hummingbirds and pollinators. Features tropical-looking foliage and decorative seed pods. Often freezes back in winter in Central Texas but rapidly returns in spring.

Planting Tips:

  • Plant in well-drained soil with protection from severe winter winds
  • Cut back frost-damaged stems in late winter
  • Use caution, as seeds are toxic if ingested
