Cuban Oregano (Plectranthus amboinicus)

Sun Requirements: Full Sun to Partial Shade

Water Requirements: Moderate

Height: 12-18 inches

Bloom Time: Late Spring to Early Fall

Description: Cuban Oregano is a perennial herb known for its thick, succulent, aromatic leaves with a robust, oregano-like flavor. The leaves are used in culinary dishes, particularly in Caribbean and Indian cuisines, and are excellent for seasoning meats, soups, and stews. The plant also produces small, lavender-pink flowers that attract pollinators.

Planting Tips:

  • Plant in well-drained soil.
  • Space plants 12-18 inches apart.
  • Water moderately, allowing the soil to dry out between waterings, and pinch back stems to encourage bushier growth.
