Description: Candlestick Plant is a fast-growing tropical shrub prized for its dramatic vertical clusters of bright golden-yellow “candlestick” flower spikes that rise above large, tropical-looking leaves. Highly attractive to butterflies and other pollinators, it makes an impressive focal point in pollinator and tropical-style gardens. In warm areas of Texas it may overwinter, but it is commonly grown as a showy annual that reaches impressive size in a single season.
Planting Tips:
Plant in well-drained soil enriched with organic matter.
Provide consistent moisture during hot months.
Protect from hard freezes; mulch well or grow as an annual in colder regions.
Give plenty of space, as plants become large and shrub-like.
Ideal Season for Planting in Texas: Spring
Nativity to Texas: No (native to tropical regions of the Americas and Africa)
