Growing Together: The Importance of Involving Children and the Community in Agriculture and Hydroponics

Not many commercial growers open their doors to the public. We wonder why that is? We certainly do. We welcome people 6 days a week to visit and shop our facility. We even offer scheduled tours! We have hosted school fieldtrips, local Master Gardener chapters and chapters of the Native Plant Society of Texas. We have hosted leaders within our community, from our local school district and politicians looking to better understand our operation and vision to university students who have already decided their future is business and agriculture.

One of our favorite groups to host is certainly school field trips.

Involving children and the community in understanding agriculture, especially hydroponics, is crucial for fostering a sustainable future. Hydroponics, the method of growing plants without soil, offers a hands-on way to learn about food production, environmental stewardship, and innovative technology.

For children, engaging in hydroponics provides practical science lessons. They can observe plant growth, learn about nutrients, and understand the importance of water conservation. These experiences cultivate a sense of responsibility and appreciation for nature, laying the groundwork for lifelong sustainable practices.

Community involvement amplifies these benefits. When neighborhoods come together to create gardens, it strengthens social bonds and promotes a collective investment in local food security. Community gardens can serve as educational hubs, offering workshops and demonstrations to spread knowledge about sustainable agriculture.

Moreover, hydroponics can flourish in urban settings, making it accessible to communities with limited space. This inclusivity ensures that even city dwellers can participate in and benefit from local food production.

At Inevitable Technology, we recognize that educating children and the community about our operation not only empowers them but also builds a resilient, connected, and environmentally conscious society. By growing together, we can ensure a greener, more sustainable future for everyone...and we hope that is Inevitable.
